Vehicle Release

For the release of any vehicle in our yard, you will need the following items.

  • Current registration
  • Valid drivers license or State issued ID
  • Current proof of insurance for this specific vehicle

For vehicles impounded by the Anchorage Police Department you will need all of the above items plus clearance through the Municipal Attorney’s Office located inside City Hall at 6th and G Street (632 W 6 Ave, Suite 730). You should call them at 343-4575 for the amount of your fees and to verify that they have received your paperwork from the Anchorage Police Department. (APD has up to 2 business days to forward your paperwork to them.) Please have your license plate and/or VIN available when you call.

When you have the release paperwork, bring it and the other required documents to our office at 2530 E. 79th Ave to pay the towing and storage charges. (Cash and Credit/Debit Cards only). If you are not the registered owner of the vehicle, you will need a notarized power of attorney in order to get information, gain access to, or release a vehicle.

If you do not currently have a valid drivers’ license, you must bring a licensed driver with you to drive the vehicle out. You may also arrange to have the vehicle hauled out.

Prior to release you may access your vehicle to retrieve the registration, insurance card or other personal items by presenting a picture ID that matches the registration information and payment of an administrative fee.
